For our secondary students this is a time of endings and beginnings. We wish all our students well as they write their Semester One Exams this week. Next Monday, we welcome an exciting new Semester.
During this time of transition, personal reflection is a great way to take pause and consider successes and areas that may need improvement. As part of our education and career life planning curriculum, students are asked to reflect on four key questions (great questions for adults as well):
Who am I?
What are my opportunities?
Who do I want to become?
What is my plan for achieving my goals?
These questions help students plan and make decisions about their future. Very shortly our students will engage in the important process of course selection. Key documents to assist them in their planning and decision making include:
The Journey Begins – Grade 7 and 8 students
The Journey Continues – Grade 9 to 12 students to become informed about types of courses, programs, supports, considerations for planning, and post-secondary options.
This year we have launched a new course selection tool, myBlueprint, which provides students with a variety of ways to explore their interests, plan forward, and document their successes. Our goal is for our students to feel well equipped to select courses that meet their needs, interests, and goals.
