World Teachers Day has been celebrated on 5 October every year since 1994.
Now in its 21st year, the day has an important purpose; to raise awareness of the work done by teachers and to support them to help the learning of future generations.
Whether you polish up an apple for your teacher, or simply send them a card letting your teacher know how important they've been to you and the great job they are doing. You can also download posters from the website too, to display all around your school. Why not visit the official World Teachers Day<http://www.une....._pi1%5BshowUid%5D=6964&cHash=cc6ca67c44> website for more ideas.
The day was established by UNESCO the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, a branch of the UN which is dedicated to promoting peace through education, science and culture. It also commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers on 5 October 1966.
Despite the recent recession, World Teachers' Day is making us all aware that investment in teachers for the future generations is still very important.
